Hiding in the seaside village of Bribie Island are a few entertainment gems for every mood: restaurants, cafe's and bars.  Top of the fine dining list is Pacific Harbour Golf Club (bookings 1300 PH GOLF). For a more relaxed atmosphere try the Surf Club on the surf-side at Woorim (3408 2141) - they have a great deck overlooking the ocean!

 

At Blue Anchorage Restaurant, located near the jetty at Bongaree, award winning chef Peter Stephens serves up unforgettably good meals (3408 1676). There is plenty of other options to choose from: Thai and Indian restaurants, or even just good old fish and chips on the jetty.

 

Cold liquid refreshments and club style meals are available at the 2 pubs, 2 bowls clubs or the award winning RSL Club.

   

Estuary Fishing

 

Hire a dingy for a few hours, or take your own boat up Marine National Park - Pumistone Passage.  Banned from commercial fishing, the main passage and all the nooks are a great place for flathead, whiting, bream, and many other species.

 

Day Trip to Tangalooma Wrecks

 

A short trip across Moreton Bay to the wrecks of Tangalooma is a great day for the faimly. Climb the dunes, or anchor up inside the wrecks for a snorkle. The resort offers dolphin feeding, quad bike tours and a host of other fun activities. Check out their website.

   

Snorkle or Dive World Class Flinders Reef

  

Located at the northorn tip of Moreton Island is Brisbane's only true coral reef and fully protected marine sanctuary. On snorkle or tank you can explore dive walls, gutters, caves and pinnacles. There are at least 112 hard and soft coral species, sponges and sea whips. 175 species of reef fish, invertebrates, turtles, stingrays, wobbegong sharks and the occasional manta ray are found at the reef. Just off the cape of Moreton Island is some of the worlds best regarded game fishing grounds, not to mention the great reefs serving up a constant supply of fish.  What ever you're after, there's no treacherous bars to cross, it's only an hour - but you'll feel a million miles away.

Bribie Island is a campers and picnicers paradise.  Both sides of the island offer camp sites managed by the rangers. Arrive to most by boat and/or 4WD, they are uncrowded and spectacularly serene.
